PEMBINA, N.D. (AP) - Bus maker Motor Coach Industries says it will add 81 jobs to its Pembina plant this year.

Most of the jobs are production based, with one opening for an engineer. Other positions include painters, electricians and mechanics.

The Pembina plant is the company's final assembly and finishing facility.

Motor Coach Industries spokeswoman Pat Plodzeen says the hiring comes as the company receives more orders from both the private and public sectors. She says public-sector customers such as transit agencies are ordering a larger number of coaches in clean-diesel, hybrid and compressed natural gas configurations. This model is finished at the Pembina plant.

The company employs more than 2,000 nationwide. It operates six sales centers, seven service centers and plants in Winnipeg, Saskatchewan and Pembina.
