Sunday's heat has caused an extreme pavement blowout on 32nd Avenue in Fargo.

Fargo Public Works Supervisor Lee Anderson said its one of the worst he has seen this season.

"Road temperatures yesterday were right around 108 or 109 degrees, and that's kind of a magic number when you start having issues with concrete expansion," said Anderson. "That's what that roadway did, it expanded and the heat probably caused a buckle about a foot high and went all the way across and through the island. We had to close down the westbound lane of 32nd."

Westbound 32nd Avenue South is shut down between 43rd Street and 45th Street.

The lane will be closed at least through the weekend.
