A forecaster for the National Weather Service office in Grand Forks says all signs point to above normal temperatures through July and the first half of August.

Mark Ewens said the current weather patterns do not appear to be in any hurry to move.

"We've been in a wet cycle for the last 15-20 years," said Ewens. "I'm not saying this is the beginning of the change of that, but these cycles rotate and we've been in this one for a long time. The whole weather patterns that have been forcing it have not moved."

Some early models from the climate prediction center already suggest next winter will be milder than usual.
