FARGO - Fargo Public Safety officials are discussing the prospect of moving the Red River Regional Dispatch Center.

Director Byron Sieber says a five-member planning committee is holding the first of several meetings today to discuss the facility's future. Sieber tells KFGO News that the current downtown Fargo location has vulnerabilities that need to be addressed.

Next year, the dispatch center's board has the option of purchasing its current location.

There's also the possibility of extending its lease to 2028. Sieber says he doesn't expect a final decision for at least several months. Cass County Sheriff Paul Laney, Fargo Fire Chief Steve Dirksen and Moorhead Fire Chief Rich Duysen are among those discussing the facility's future.
