2 Charged In SD Child's Death Face More Charges

There are new charges in connection with a Wagner couple accused of letting the body of a 2-year-old girl sit in a closet for nearly two days before reporting her death.

 

 

 

 

WAGNER, S.D. (AP) - There are new charges in connection with a Wagner couple accused of letting the body of a 2-year-old girl sit in a closet for nearly two days before reporting her death.

Twenty-one-year-old Taylor Cournoyer and 28-year-old Laurie Cournoyer had been charged with one count of failure to report a child's death and one count of abuse or cruelty to a minor in the death of the 2-year-old.

The couple was indicted Monday on an additional nine criminal counts related to narcotics and abuse of five other children living in the home.

Court documents allege the Cournoyers used sleeping pills, methamphetamine and marijuana during the day and a half the toddler's body was in the closet.

An 11-year-old boy living in the home also has been charged.
