DMI Industries in West Fargo may be sold.
Otter Tail Corporation says it has signed a non-binding letter of interest to sell the wind tower manufacturer for $20 million.
The company won't identify the potential buyer.
West Fargo Mayor Rich Mattern says, “I don’t know who the new company might be and if they have to shut it down during the transition.”
If the deal doesn't go through, Otter Tail would close the plant and sell the equipment. It blames the decision to sell the on the uncertainty with federal tax credits for renewable energy that are set to expire at the end of the year.
DMI employs more than 200 people in West Fargo and Tulsa, Okla.
