MOORHEAD, Minn. - There was a reported car jacking in Moorhead this morning. Twenty-year-old Emmanuel Galuak, of Fargo, was arrested after a brief pursuit and crash in Fargo.

The car was taken at gunpoint from an employee at the Safari Theater in Moorhead.

The driver sped off at a high rate of speed when a North Dakota Highway Patrol Trooper attempted to pull the car over.

The car spun out of control in the 4200 Block of 9th Avenue South on wet pavement and struck 3 trees and then vaulting into the air, coming down on its top.

Galuak was treated at the scene for minor injuries and taken to the Cass County Jail. The car was totaled. Authorities recovered a handgun at the scene.

Officer Troy Nielson says car thefts in this part of the country are pretty rare. Officer Nielson says, “More often than not we see vehicles just being stolen.”
