Prisoner Who Escaped In SD In July Spotted In NE

A prisoner who escaped from a transport van in southeastern South Dakota last month has been spotted in Nebraska but is still on the run.

 

 

 

 

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) - A prisoner who escaped from a transport van in southeastern South Dakota last month has been spotted in Nebraska but is still on the run.

Authorities say 31-year-old Oscar Herrera-Menjivar was last seen in the Omaha, Neb., area on Sunday. They say he has been trying to contact people he knows for help.

Herrera-Menjivar was being transported from Florida to Nebraska to be prosecuted on a sex crime charge when he escaped in the Spencer, S.D., area on July 14, when the transport bus stopped at a convenience store off Interstate 90 and a guard fell asleep.
