FARGO - Alarmed by the growing number of illegal adult entertainment operations in Fargo, Police Chief Keith Ternes is moving forward on a plan to license that type of entertainment.

Ternes tells KFGO news the ordinance will not eliminate but should curb what police see as fast expanding prostitution operations in Fargo.

Ternes says the licensing will send a message to the adult entertainment industry that police are aware they're here and that police are watching. Ternes wants to have a draft ordinance ready for review within two months.

The ordinance is modeled on one in Sioux City, Iowa where police have seen a noticeable drop in prostitution and crimes associated with it.
