FARGO - It took longer that expected but the Fargo Police Chief and City Attorney have come up with a revised noise ordinance that will be soon ready for city commission review.

The issue came up a year ago when a bar asked for extensions of the ordinance to allow for outdoor concerts. The bar is near a residential area and residents protested.

Police Chief Keith Ternes says the revised code is a "reasonable compromise" for both those who want to use "amplified sound" outdoors and those who live in the same area.

The draft includes established decibel levels and sets specific rules on where and for how long those events can run.
