Now that the animal cruelty measure has been approved for the November ballot, supporters are planning their efforts to get the measure passed.
The measure makes it a Class "C" felony for cruelty to cats, dogs and horses. It carries a maximum five years in prison and a $5,000 fine. Karen Thunshelle of Minot chairs North Dakotans to Stop Animal Cruelty.
North Dakota is one of only two states that does not make animal cruelty a felony.
