Drought Disaster Loans Available To ND Farmers

The state-owned Bank of North Dakota is making low-interest disaster loans available to farmers and ranchers dealing with drought.

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) - The state-owned Bank of North Dakota is making low-interest disaster loans available to farmers and ranchers dealing with drought.


Agriculture Commissioner Doug Goehring says producers statewide are eligible for the loans. Goehring, Gov. Jack Dalrymple and Attorney General Wayne Stenehjem make up the Industrial Commission, which oversees the bank.

The U.S. Drought Monitor map shows about 28 percent of North Dakota in severe drought, and about 52 percent in moderate drought. The rest of the state is rated abnormally dry.
