FARGO - Congressman Rick Berg says he has no connection to a company that his opponent claims has a history of unsound business practices.
A radio ad by Democrat Heidi Heitkamp says Goldmark Property Management has, among other things, been cited for ignoring fire safety codes.
During a news conference in Fargo, Berg said he's affiliated with a different company called "Goldmark Schlossman Commercial Real Estate."
The Heitkamp campaign responds by saying that Berg listed his employer as "Goldmark Property Management" when he contributed to the 2000 Senate campaign of state Rep. Al Carlson. It also claims that the Goldmark website was changed recently to hide Berg's ties to the property management company.
Berg won't say whether or not he thinks Heitkamp should apologize for the ad.
