Man Sentenced In Killing Mother With Machete

A Dalton, Minn. man has been sentenced to more than 34 years in prison for killing his elderly mother with a machete in April of last year.

 

 

 

 

A Dalton, Minn. man has been sentenced to more than 34 years in prison for killing his elderly mother with a machete in April of last year.

James Howard, 48, told the judge that "God is forgiving me." He must serve at least 23 years. Besides the prison time, Howard was ordered to pay his family $45,000 in restitution.

Investigators say Howard claimed that he was trying to relieve his mother's suffering from diabetes and other health problems.
