A new housing survey for North Dakota has been completed - and it shows a massive building effort will be needed to meet a 30 percent increase in the state's population by 2025.

State Housing Finance Agency director Mike Anderson says oil patch counties are expected to grow the most. He says that also means more demand for affordable housing. Gov. Dalrymple says it's going to be a big challenge.

The report prepared for the state Housing Finance Agency by NDSU’s Center for Social Research, says accomodating the expected increase in population will require construction of some 6,000 housing units a year.
