Bismarck, N.D. (AP) A Belcourt man has been sentenced to three years and 10 months in federal prison for being a felon in possession of a firearm.
U.S. Attorney Timothy Purdon says 28-year-old Jordan Short was sentenced Friday in Bismarck Federal Court.
Authorities say short was driving a vehicle on the Turtle Mountain Indian Reservation in October 2011 when a Bureau Of Indian Affairs officer attempted to stop him for a traffic violation.
Authorities say short fled in the vehicle and on foot. Authorities say a handgun was found in the vehicle.
Short was prohibited from possessing a firearm because of two prior felony convictions in 2004 and 2006 that included theft and aggravated assault.
