Federal prosecutors in Fargo have stumbled into a child pornography investigation, thanks to the discovery of a lost cell phone.

Court documents obtained by KFGO News say a man who found the phone brought it to a Fargo Sprint retailer on Tuesday. A Sprint employee called police after he examined the phone and found a pornographic video of a girl between 6 and 8 years-old. Investigators determined the phone was registered to 32-year-old Dustin Muscha of Moorhead.

Muscha was charged with production and possession of child pornography.

The complaint says Muscha was earlier investigated by Fargo police for inappropriately touching a four-year-old girl, but charges were never filed. Muscha is in federal custody until a detention hearing is held at a later date.
