North Dakota community action agencies are being impacted by the latest voluntary recall of Sunland peanut butter products. The commodity peanut butter was distributed to clients served by the agency in August.

Terry Stanke of the Red River Valley Community Action Agency in Grand Forks says they’ve already pulled and disposed of 740 pounds of the peanut butter in storage and at the warehouse in Fargo.  Postcards with disposal instructions were mailed to some 800 clients served in Grand Forks, Nelson, Walsh, and Pembina counties.

The voluntary recall was made after the risk of salmonella was identified at a New Mexico manufacturing facility.

No illnesses have been reported in North Dakota.
