A packed house at a public meeting in Horace Wednesday night about the F-M diversion project. The Diversion Authority and local project engineers called the meeting.
Revised plans now under study are supposed to bring significant cost savings, estimated at around $53 million, and reduce the number of properties impacted by the diversion channel and water storage area.
Landowners say the price of farmland has gone up significantly since the original proposal, and some are concerned officials aren't budgeting enough to pay to buy out their farmland. Those in the audience also expressed concerns about whether there will be enough federal funding because of assistance required for Huricane Sandy relief.
