Bismarck, N.D. (AP) Much of North Dakota appears to be in for a weekend of winter weather.
The National Weather Service posted advisories in the north and east Friday, with forecasters calling for freezing rain and up to five inches of snow. State transportation officials issued a travel alert for the southeast, north central and northeast portions of the state, cautioning motorists to reduce speeds and drive according to the conditions.
There's also a chance of snow in the west on Saturday, and it's expected to spread across the state on Sunday.
Forecasters say blowing snow could cause travel problems into Monday.
