It's election day in the United States and North Dakotans will be picking a governor, U.S. Senator and House member. North Dakotans will also be deciding five statewide ballot measures.

Many local races are also on the ballot.

The most closely watched race, which has received national attention as well, is the U.S. Senate race between Republican Rick Berg and Democrat Heidi Heitkamp.

In Minnesota, residents are voting on two proposed revisions to their state constitution.

One amendment would strengthen the state law against gay marriage by putting it in the constitution. The other would require photo ID to vote.

Many state, local and federal races are also on the ballot.

Most polling sites are open from 7:00 a.m. to 8 p.m.
