The North Dakota House has defeated a bill that would have exempted clothing from state and local sales taxes.
The bill included $9.5 million for local governments to replace the money they would lose from the exemption.
Minot Rep. Matt Klein says the legislature has a number of other proposals to cut taxes.
He says a sales tax exemption on clothing isn’t the best idea.
