Man Jailed After Police Chase In Wahpeton-Breckenridge

Damaged Breckenridge Police SUV

A man wanted on a federal weapons violation warrant is in jail in Breckenridge, MN after a police chase through parts of Wahpeton and Breckenridge Wednesday afternoon. It started on the north side of Wahpeton.

Officers decided to use a police pursuit technique called a "pit" maneuver to get the fleeing car to stop. The Breckenridge Police chief was driving one of the pursuing vehicles. It struck a power pole. The three officers inside were not seriously hurt.

　

At one point during the chase, the man tossed a gun from his car and a bag of cash. The Minnesota State Patrol has been called in to begin crash reconstruction.
