A 20-year old Arthur, North Dakota man may owe his life to neighbors.
Fire Chief Casey Zieske tells KFGO News that Joey Strauss was asleep at his mother's home Thursday afternoon when fire broke out.
He says two people across the street saw the smoke went in the front door and pulled Strauss to safety. Zieske calls it a courageous act.
Strauss was home alone. He was not hurt. The home had significant damage and the family was displaced. The Red Cross is helping with immediate needs.
The cause of the fire has not been determined.
Fire departments from Casselton and Hunter assisted Arthur. They were on scene for about 4 hours.
A fund has been set up for the family. Donations can be sent to the First State Bank in Arthur, Post Office Box 98, 340 Main Street, Arthur, North Dakota, 58006.
