Paula Kranz Broadwell, the woman reported to have been involved in the extramarital affair with David Patraeus, grew up in Bismarck.

The affair was cited by Patraeus as his grounds for resigning as director of the Central Intelligence Agency.

Broadwell attended Century High School, where she was homecoming queen and valedictorian for the class of 1991. She was inducted into the school's Hall of Fame in 2006.

She graduated from West Point in 1995. She is a major in the U.S. Army Reserve.

Broadwell's biography, "All In: The Education of General David Ppetraeus," was written with Vernon Loeb, a Washington Post editor, and published in January
