Accused Moorhead Rapist Also Being Investigated In Cass County

A Fargo man charged with raping a woman in a downtown Moorhead parking lot is also the subject of a criminal investigation in Cass County.

 

 

 

 

FARGO - A Fargo man charged with raping a woman in a downtown Moorhead parking lot is also the subject of a criminal investigation in Cass County. The information was revealed Tuesday during a court appearance for 46-year-old Richard Haaland.

Assistant Clay County Attorney Heidi Davies said she didn't want to discuss details in court, but she told Judge Lisa Borgen that the investigation involves the intrusion into the privacy of others in Cass County and may generate additional charges.

Borgen denied Davies' request to order a GPS monitor to be placed on Haaland. She then accused the county attorney's office of using the hearing to pressure her into modifying the conditions of Haaland's release.

Borgen granted a defense motion for a gag order, which prohibits attorneys from speaking about the case until it's resolved.
