Rural members of the North Dakota legislature won’t be getting more travel money.
Lawmakers are paid $440 a month to cover their expenses.
The house has rejected a bill to give rural lawmakers an extra $200 in travel expenses.
Fargo State Representative Wes Belter says lawmakers should expect to pay some of their travel expenses.
Along with the $440 a month, lawmakers are paid for every day the legislature is in session.
That adds up to about $1,100 a week for four months.
