Minnesota meat packing plants may be forced to shut down their production lines if inspectors have to take furlough days due to the federal sequester.

US Ag Secretary Tom Vilsack says there's no way to make across-the-board cuts the sequester calls for, without forcing those furlough days.

But Vilsak says unsafe meats won't go out for sale because the plants will have to shut down.

Vilsack doesn't expect the furloughs to begin or the impact to be felt for several more months.
