The Storm Is Over, But Problems Persist

We're digging out from a late winter storm that shut down major roads and closed schools across eastern North Dakota and western Minnesota yesterday.

The storm dumped about 4 inches of snow in the F-M area.

Higher amounts fell to the north.

Nine inches fell at Park Rapids and at Fourtown, near Grygla in Beltrami County reported 9 inches.

8 1/2 inches was reported at Karlstad, 7 inches in Wadena.

High winds, blowing snow and ice made travel treacherous.

It caused white out conditions and shut down major highways.

Many rural roads were blocked by snow drifts.

Fargo reported a peak gust of 45mph yesterday morning...and gusts between 40 and 50 mph were common across the region.

U.S. Highway Two, between East Grand Forks and Crookston remains closed but is expected to reopen this morning.

The Polk County sheriff's office says plows are out on the stretch now.

The North Dakota DOT took its plows off the roads last night but are resuming work clearing snow this morning.
