About 2,000 security officers in the Twin Cities are staging a 1-day strike.
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - About 2,000 security officers in the Twin Cities are staging a 1-day strike.
The officers are members of the Service Employees International Union Local 26. They serve several major companies, including Target, U.S. Bank and Wells Fargo. The strike comes after negotiations on wages, health care and job safety broke down. The officers have been working without a contract since Dec. 31.
The striking officers work for Viking Security, AMB Security, Whelan, G4S, Allied Barton and Securitas.
Bargaining Tuesday did result in a deal for officers who work with subcontractor American Security.
