Ever wonder why it takes so long to re-open closed highways?   This picture from Minn. State Patrol Sgt. Jesse Grabow shows you just what goes into removing one semi, let alone, dozens of vehicles and semi's that hit the ditch during the storm.

It's a long process.   In addition to plowing the highways, additional loaders have to be brought in to remove snow from around the semi's.  Many times, the freight being hauled has to be off-loaded into another semi.   Only then can heavy-duty tow trucks removed the semi's from the ditch.
