Ex Valley City Administrator Working For Hoeven

U.S. Sen. John Hoeven has hired Valley City's controversial former administrator as a full-time staff member to serve constituents in the western North Dakota oil patch.

 

 

 

 

WILLISTON, N.D. (AP) - U.S. Sen. John Hoeven has hired Valley City's controversial former administrator as a full-time staff member to serve constituents in the western North Dakota oil patch.

Jon Cameron is based in Williston. His wife, Joan, will work for the city's public works department as an engineering technician.

Hoeven says Jon Cameron has more than 36 years in public service and worked extensively with then-Gov. Hoeven during 2009 flooding.

Cameron was a controversial public figure in Valley City. He resigned in October 2011 after months of political turmoil involving a dispute with the police chief. Voters defeated an effort to eliminate Cameron's job but he announced the next day he was leaving anyway because he thought it was in the city's best interest. He took a city manager job in Oklahoma.
