Alerus Center Shelter (American Red Cross)
226 people took advantage of an emergency storm shelter at The Alerus Center in Grand Forks Monday night.
The city and Red Cross set up the shelter. Brian Shawn with the Red Cross says motels were booked solid.
They were anticipating that between 50 and 60 stranded travelers would show up.
Many of those stuck in Grand Forks were trying to return home to Manitoba or Saskatchewan after spending the weekend in the states.
I-29 was closed because of zero visibility and heavy drifting.
