The Fargo Parking Commission discussed downtown development tied to parking issues Friday. Developer Doug Burgum says he's more optimistic than ever a plan by his Kilbourne Group for a muli-use project on property around the U.S. Bank will get off the ground, possibly as soon as next year. It would incorporate a parking ramp, commercial, retail and residential space.
Burgum's been talking a number of busiensses that are considering moving their headquarters downtown but he says they all say parking is the number one issue they have.
The commission also discussed a proposal to build a parking ramp with retail and commercial space at Roberts Street and 2nd Avenue. Part of the property is now a city parking lot. The project, still preliminary, would require a private developer. It would contain 400 to 500 hundred parking spaces.
