ND Exports Increase By Nearly $900m

North Dakota exports increased by about $900 million in 2012 led by strong global sales of agricultural and construction machinery and a record volume of crude that was shipped to Canada before returning to the U.S. By pipeline.

Bismarck, N.D. (AP) North Dakota exports increased by about $900 million in 2012 led by strong global sales of agricultural and construction machinery and a record volume of crude that was shipped to Canada before returning to the U.S. By pipeline.
 
Federal Commerce Department statistics show the state's exports totaled $4.2 billion last year. That's up from $3.4 billion in 2011 and $2.5 billion in 2010.
 
The biggest increase in export value came from oil shipments, which jumped from $741 million in 2011 to $1.3 billion last year.
 
Data show wheat exports last year were valued at $164 million. That was down 15 percent from 2011.
