FARGO, N.D. - The Bison begin the 2012
The NDSU defense looked good out of the gates with a quick stop of the Jack Rabbit Offense. Brock Jensen and the Bison offense moved down the field, but couldn't capitalize when Adam Keller was wide right on a field goal attempt.
After a SDSU field goal, the Herd trailed 3-0 before John Crockett gave the Bison momentum of their own with two big runs to leave NDSU in striking distance before Jensen connected with Garrett Bruhn to take a 7-3.
The Herd used a little trickery to add to their lead with an option play to Ryan Smith for a 32-yard touchdown run making the score 14-3.
Second quarter domination didn't stop there for NDSU, Marcus Williams tied a school record for career interceptions picking off
The Bison Offense made it count with a nine play drive with Jensen punching it in from 2-yards out to take a 21-3 lead.
After the Bison exploded offensively and defensively in the second quarter, NDSU and SDSU seemed to be in a stalemate through the third quarter with both defenses holding their ground.
The Herd kept the game on idle for most of the fourth quarter before sealing the when Jensen and Bruhn connected for the second time Saturday pushing the score to 28-3.
NDSU will take on Wofford in the next round of the playoffs 2pm Saturday in Fargo.
