The head of the North Dakota National Guard says budget cuts forced by sequestration will have a "tremendous impact" in North Dakota.
General Dave Sprynczynatyk has been told to prepare for a "worst case" scenario and is looking at an overall 25% budget cut.
Spryncznatyk's preparing to furlough more than 600 of the guard's military technicians at the end April. The one-day-a-week furloughs mean a 20% reduction in pay and benefits.
He says the guard is also cutting back on training, equipment maintenance and flight time for its aircraft.
