BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) - A board will be certifying the official results of this month's North Dakota elections.

The Canvassing Board includes the secretary of state, the state treasurer, the clerk of North Dakota's Supreme Court and representatives of North Dakota's Democratic and Republican parties.

Secretary of State Al Jaeger says the board will be reviewing election results from North Dakota's 53 counties.

The board looks at races for the U.S. House and Senate, statewide offices, judgeships and the Legislature.

Jaeger says it's a clerical job, but it is important because the Canvassing Board provides a stamp of approval that shows someone has been elected.

The closest statewide race was the U.S. Senate contest between Republican Rick Berg and Democrat Heidi Heitkamp.

Heitkamp won by about 3,000 votes.

The board is meeting Friday afternoon.
