GROVE CITY, Minn. (AP) - A west central Minnesota school district has state approval to continue its four-day school week.
The Minnesota Department of Education has notified the Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City district its application to continue the flexible school schedule has been approved. The district is required to re-apply for approval every three years after implementing the schedule in 2010.
Superintendent Sherri Broderius says the district saves about $100,000 annually by operating a Tuesday through Friday schedule. That money is used to improve student proficiency in reading and math, among other things.
