A private grant is funding the purchase of seven new heart defibrillators for the Clay County Sheriff's Department.

Lieutenant Steve Todd says thanks to the Dakota Medical Foundation, each patrol car in the sheriff's fleet will be equipped.

The devices typically cost $2,400 each. The total value of the grant was about $17,000.
