FARGO - The calendar still says fall, but winter arrived in the northern Red River Valley.

The National Weather Service says snow amounts for this early in the season appear to be records.

Badger, Minn. reported 14 inches of snow. Seven inches of snow fell in nearby Roseau, eight inches at Middle River, six inches at Karlstad and Crookston.

At Hector International Airport in Fargo, 1.4 inches of snow was collected, a new daily record. Snowfall amounts varied from 1-2 inches around the Fargo-Moorhead area.

The wet heavy snow caused a number of power outages stretching from the Fargo area north to the Canadian border.
