Fargo's Police Chief Keith Ternes calls the growing number of admissions at the city's detox center "startling."
Ternes tells KFGO News the problem is aggravated as people needing detox services from outside the area that are often dropped off here by other law enforcement agencies, sometimes under the cover of night. Ternes says "their problem becomes our problem."
Ternes says "Centre Inc." is already operating at or near capacity and the surprise admissions put a lot of strain on the facility and staff. He says it's also unfair local taxpayers end up footing the bill. The detox center sees 250 to 300 admisssions every month.
