Changes are in the works as Fargo city leaders craft changes to the noise ordinance.

Last week City Commissioners reviewed a revisions that that included a ban on outdoor amplified sound in residential area's. That came as a surprise to many, including Fargo Marathon Director Mark Knutson. The change would eliminate live bands along the race route. Those bands have become a tradition of the premier event.

Knutson tells KFGO News, no promises were made during a meeting with police but he says there may be an exception made for the marathon.

Lt. Joel Vettel says they're working closely with the city attorney to draft language that would allow exceptions like the Marathon and oudoor church services that use amplied sound.

Poice Chief Keith Ternes is expected to present the proposed changes to City Commissioners Monday night.
