Two hunters are recovering at home after suffering severe hypothermia after getting lost in a dense swamp near Walhalla, in northeast North Dakota Saturday afternoon.

Bo Carrier, 20, and Travis Lafferty, 23 both of Walhalla and cousins, chased a wounded deer into the swamp and became disoriented. The swamp, well known to locals, is considered dangerous with brush so thick the only way to get around is crawl.

Lafferty was carrying the semi-conscious Carrier when the pair emerged from the swamp three hours later as a search party was being organized. Temperatures were in the low teens and it was snowing.

The two spent the night at the Cavalier hospital. A relative says Lafferty probably saved his cousin's life.
