Local business leaders are calling on the North Dakota Senate to help restore funding for the proposed Fargo-Moorhead diversion.

The group, "Business Leaders Taskforce for Permanent Flood Protection", say its members will do whatever is needed to make sure comprehensive flood protection stays a priority for the region.

The taskforce is a joint effort between the chamber and the Greater Fargo-Moorhead Economic Eevelopment Corporation.

Chamber CEO Craig Whitney says the federal government has not given up on this project, so the state shouldn't either.

The house yesterday voted not allow the spending of state money on the nearly two-billion dollar project until there are firm commitments that the federal government will come through with its share.
