An internal affairs investigation will not result in discipline for a Cass County deputy for the October escape of a jail inmate.
He was leaving the courthouse in Fargo when he slipped off his handcuffs and leg chains and ran. He used a piece of metal from a jail laundry bag to free himself.
Sheriff's department Sgt. Tara Morris says command staff and Sheriff Paul Laney reviewed the circumstances surrounding the escape.
Morris says that includes a radio upgrade to allow better communication between inmate transport deputies and other law enforcement agencies. A more secure prisoner transfer garage in the courthouse addition will also be in use soon.
The inmate was sentenced to a year-and-a-half in prison for the escape. He also faces drug charges in Federal court.
