Canadians File Charges Against Gun Smuggling Suspect

An Ontario man who was recently arrested during a gun sting in Grand Forks is now facing charges in Canada.

 

 

 

 

An Ontario man who was recently arrested during a gun sting in Grand Forks is now facing charges in Canada.

As KFGO News first reported, Shawn Hartnell is accused of illegally selling firearms to undercover agents for $24,000. Court documents say Hartnell told the agents that he could smuggle the guns into Canada on snowmobile.

Sergeant Line Karpish of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police says Hartnell is facing 35 firearms charges in Canada. An accomplice was arrested on 27 similar charges.

Hartnell remains in federal custody in North Dakota.
