NDSU student leaders say it's time for university system Chancellor Hamid Shirvani to go.
It was a unanimous vote of the student senate, for a resolution of "no confidence" in Shirvani.
The resolution also supports an effort in the legislature to provide money for a buy-out of Shirvani's contract.
Student body President Luke Brodeur says the action should be a clear signal to the legislature and the state board of higher education, the students believe Shirvani should be fired.
The student group specifically cites, what they call Shirvani's leadership methods and his interactions with student leaders.
The NDSU action follows a similar vote by the state-wide student association.
That group also passed resolutions supporting the contract buy-out money and no confidence in Shirvani.
Shirvani has been chancellor of the university system for just under a year.
