A big crowd on hand as landowners south of Fargo wanted to know more about the proposed Fargo-Moorhead Diversion channel.

The Army Corps of Engineers along with the Diversion Board of Authority tried to address their concerns about the construction of a ring levee to protect Oxbow, Hickson and Bakke Subdivision.

The three communities are in the area that would be used to store water when the diversion is in operation.

The goal of the meeting was to explain how each area would be impacted and explain steps that would be taken to protect them.

Corps officials say the decision on a levee will be up to community members.

Another option would be buy-outs.

Oxbow Mayor Jim Nyhoff says the local decision will likely be made this spring.
