The votes have been counted in Mayville and residents have overwhelming said "yes" to a property tax increase for a new truck for the Mayville Fire and Rescue Department.

The 7 mill increase will raise property taxes by about $31 a year for the owner of a $100,000 home.

Voters also said "no" to recalling two members of the city council, re-electing Mike Carr and Larry O'brien.

They easily beat five other challengers.

The recall was started after Carr and O'brien voted to eliminate the city public works director, forcing the longtime director out of his job.
